Exquisite Franconian food in large portions.

We stayed as a family for 5 days at Pension Sponsel. The price-performance ratio was very good, hence the 5 stars. The decor of the rooms and the dining room is simple, but the typical style of a Franconian village inn. The food was always delicious and varied.

Very tasty food. Old economy ... but if the rest fits. Will come again.

Super good cuisine, always a special note! We recommend. Only the service seemed a bit overwhelmed ... Still love to come back!

Nice rooms, great breakfast, very good food anyway

The 10th of us stayed at Gasthaus Sponsel from June 26th to 28th, 2020. First of all: The booking went very well despite Corona and the fact that some of them are always unable to attend and (have to) cancel. The landlord accepted my cancellations without complaint. About the rooms: I can only write about my room (No. 5 / 1st floor). It is getting on in years. Old wallpaper with a lot of bubbles. Old windows where you have to open a bolt at the bottom if you want to open the window completely. Shower with an old, very high shower tray. A shower head that could not be locked and always flipped down and NO single lever mixer. Food was very good. Since we always pre-ordered in the morning, we didn't wait long. But the terrace was always full. And not just from the hotel guests. The service was mostly a bit overwhelmed, because alone. Then the boss had to help out with the service. Still, we were happy with everything. If I had only rated the food, it would have been 5 stars.

Not the usual Franconian cuisine but the whole thing refined a little. But that too is available at typical Franconian prices. Almost something like an insider tip!

The innkeeper snaps at you outside the beer garden in the parking lot, you should put on mouth protection. Yes, I just took off the motorcycle helmet. Then wait 3 minutes for the gentleman to wipe his table with a rag. Place OK until you ask for the card. No, there would be no food and no snack. Just wonder why the restaurant is next to his house. Is it just a beer bar? I went again ...

Fine food and nice service. Good selection and rustic atmosphere. Since freshly prepared, waiting times are possible.

Very friendly staff, nice beer garden, the inn itself is not very inviting in the interior but is still worth a visit, because the food is both a taste and for the eye a top recommendation. The wine connoisseurs get their money. Was a nice and delicious evening which we will gladly repeat.

Once upon a time, it is a small town in Upper Franconia. It will not be a fairy tale, however, you will find in the village the inn with the charm of the sixties and then combine Mediterranean and Franconian dishes from the very finest in the kitchen of the inn. There you feel and taste there is someone in the kitchen who loves to cook and also the idea to combine both cooking styles gets praise. Price performance overall is very good. I had Franconian Krensüppchen and spaghetti with seafood as an intermediate dish which both as top is to be evaluated.
